Employment Opportunities for Public Housing and Section 8 Residents
Every year the Housing Authority of the County of Armstrong invests Capital Fund Grant money into projects that will improve and modernize the public housing buildings we manage. These projects are performed by contractors who may, on occasion, have employment or training opportunities available for qualified workers.
Residents of our public housing communities and Section 8 voucher recipients who have skills or experience in construction, maintenance, landscaping, cleaning or other trades are encouraged to contact our office to share this information. If appropriate, we may share this information with contractors in need of workers.
Housing Authority staff may also be able to connect interested residents with community organizations that provide resources and assistance with job searches, resume development, interview preparation and workforce training programs.
These efforts support the goals of HUD’s Section 3 program which encourages economic opportunities for low-income individuals in connection with federally funded housing and community development activities. Contractors working on Housing Authority projects are encouraged to consider qualified residents when employment opportunities are available.
If you would like to share your skills/experiences or learn more about available employment resources, please contact Amber Snyder at 724-548-7671.
